Thought I'd voice some of the same things I said on Finebaum last week.
Truth is AG does not have a dynamic personality to get out and market and hustle the program - C.M. thought it unnecessary, Mark was pretty good, Wimp was the best at bringing in the crowds.

But if AG doesn't want to do it, the SID office or Sports Marketing should have gotten off their butts and done something besides just trying to bargain basement tickets. I'm Tide Pride and it pisses me off that they were hawking $20 family packages, with no takers.

In November/December yes, January/February no.

The Auburn game was a sellout - I'll bet there were no more than 12,000 in the seats, many there only to see the trophy.

If AG doesn't want to hustle it (that is NOT a complaint, I just don't think it's his personality), how about getting Pettway out and on the air to get people, especially the students to come out.

Wimp would take players to dorms, fraternities and sororities and beg the students to come. High point was in 1989. I thought all SEC games were sold out - the media guide says average SEC attendance was 14,299 - so 1,000 short.

Question -- how many of those single digit loses this year would we have won with 14,000 fans in the seats?

We'd be heading to the Dance.

Sports Marketing - get off your ass.

I completely agree with you. AG can learn a lot from Coach Saban.... When Coach Saban first came to Alabama he did everything that he could possibly do to put Alabama in the news and it was all positive......
I see a lot of similiarities in Coach Saban's first season and AG. Both Coaches first year had very close games. It seemed they lacked the depth or something to put them over the edge....
I think AG is going to be a good basketball coach but I do agree he needs to do more and help market the basketball program. He needs to get in the spotlight... open his process up... he can learn a lot from Coach Saban....

I normally keep up with Alabama basketball but this season seemed flat.
